activism ~ ode to the Tūhoe Nation

The Tūhoe Nation.

This isn’t my iwi.

But the iwi of

my mokopuna.

Sometimes referred to as

“The Children of the Mist”;

These beautiful, righteous people;

Sacred and forthright,

at the foot of their domain;

Have a history of non-conformity.

Of being true to their own identity.

Of forging new terrain;

Of pissing off the ‘powers that be’.

But no other stands

Like Tūhoe.

No other triumphs

Like Tūhoe.

The empowered Nation.

The Nation of my mokopuna.
